Practice English, build confidence, and make meaningful connections in a welcoming space for immigrant and migrant women.
Our English Conversation Groups are a friendly space for immigrant and migrant women to practice English, meet others, and build community. We welcome all English levels. You do not need to be fluent to join. Whether you are just starting or already feel more confident, you are welcome here.
For almost a year and a half, these groups have grown into a strong and vibrant community. We now have more than 90 immigrant and migrant women registered, along with an active WhatsApp group that helps women stay connected, share information, and build friendships beyond the sessions.
This program would not be possible without our amazing volunteers, who help create a warm, supportive, and encouraging environment for everyone.
Our sessions take place both in person and virtually — one week in person and one week virtually. This flexible format helps make the program more accessible for different schedules, comfort levels, and needs.
Our in-person groups take place in different locations so we can get to know Halifax together through low-cost or free activities. These sessions are a chance to practice English while exploring the city, trying new spaces, and building confidence in community.
To help keep the sessions as safe as possible, we do not publicly share the locations. Location details are only shared with registered participants.
Our virtual sessions offer another way to stay connected, practice English, and join the community from home. They are especially helpful for women who may have transportation, childcare, or scheduling barriers.
If you are interested, please send us an email and we will reach out with more information.
We are excited to keep growing this community and would love to welcome you.
