IMWAH acknowledges that our work takes place in Mi'kma'ki, the traditional and unceded territory of the Mi'kmaq people

IMWAH is a feminist, anti-racist, and anti-oppressive organization dedicated to supporting immigrant and migrant women in building a sense of belonging in Nova Scotia. Through advocacy, inclusive programming, and meaningful social exchange, IMWAH creates spaces where women can connect, grow, and lead in their communities.
We envision a more inclusive Nova Scotia where immigrant and migrant women are supported by community, connected through strong relationships, and empowered to build lives of dignity, belonging, and resilience.
Our work is grounded in feminist, intersectional, anti-racist, and trauma-informed values. We believe that meaningful support must be culturally responsive, person- and community-centred, and shaped by lived experience. At IMWAH, we value collaboration, compassion, empowerment, and shared knowledge. We know that strong communities are built through trust, care, and connection. That is why we work not only to respond to immediate needs, but also to build relationships, strengthen community networks, and create lasting tools and resources that women can continue to use over time.
As IMWAH continues to grow, we are focused on strengthening our role as a community connection point, an information and navigation hub, and a trusted partner for immigrant and migrant women across Nova Scotia.
