IMWAH stands for the Immigrant Migrant Women’s Association of Halifax. We support immigrant and migrant women in Nova Scotia through community programs, information, connection, and support.
Our programs are mainly for immigrant & migrant women in Nova Scotia. You can join our programs no matter your immigration status.
At IMWAH, we use “immigrant and migrant women” to include women who have moved to Canada from another country, including newcomers, refugees, migrant workers, international students, permanent residents, temporary residents, and women with different immigration experiences.

Our English Conversation Groups are welcoming spaces where immigrant and migrant women can practice English, meet other women, and build community. You do not need perfect English to join. The groups are about connection, confidence, and learning together.
Most of our community programs and events are free. If there is a cost for a specific event, we will clearly share that information before you register.

We will always share this information clearly before the event. When you register, we may ask if you need childcare or if you plan to bring children.
IMWAH offers programs both in person and online. Many of our in-person events take place in Halifax, and we also offer virtual programs so women can join from different communities across Nova Scotia.
